Overview
The Investment Accounting Manager (Manager) leads the investment accounting department and oversees the planning and activities of the team in order to timely and accurately deliver investment data, accounting, and reporting. The Manager works closely with other departments to prepare, review, and deliver reports and insights for internal and client use.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Lead and manage the people, processes, deadlines, and deliverables of the investment accounting team, including accurate and timely reconciliation of custodial records, review of financial statement entries, money movement transactions, capital call activities, and reporting.
- Lead department meetings, projects, and initiatives.
- Provide leadership, management, and guidance to the investment accounting team. Serve as subject matter expert for the team, department policies and procedures, and supporting technology platforms to ensure the department operates efficiently and effectively.
- Develop and maintain effective policies, procedures, and tools (i.e., calendars, KPIs, workloads) to monitor and measure performance and outcomes.
- Develop and implement training and support programs to ensure employees effectively utilize processes, systems, and reports.
- Troubleshoot and resolve reconciliation issues to meet deadlines
- Develop and maintain department review and audit processes and best practices.
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure review and approval of client reports prior to distribution.
- Advance the application of industry best practices to deliver best-in-class accounting and reporting.
- Safeguard compliance by actively maintaining and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement best practices for accounting, reporting, and insights, ensuring efficient and effective processes, workflows, communication, and reporting with accounting, investment operations, wealth management, and other departments.
- Serve as a backup to the Investment Operations Manager.
- Serve as wire approver, ensuring accuracy and adherence to policies and procedures.
- Serve as lead relationship manager for assigned relationships (i.e., custodians, investment accounting platform vendor).
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through self-initiated professional development.
Professional Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree in accounting, finance, or business. Relevant professional certifications a plus (CPA, MBA, CFA).
- 10+ years of progressive success in investment, accounting, or professional service environments.
- 2+ years of experience working in a highly evolving role where change management leadership is required.
- Demonstrated success leading and managing people, projects, and complex processes.
- Strong organization, accounting, and operations capabilities
- Curious, goal oriented, and initiative-taking with a passion for leading transformative change.
- Expertise and experience developing and implementing accounting processes, review/audit, and KPIs.
- Expertise in traditional and alternative investments, accounting treatments, reconciliation, and systems (e.g., Clearwater, Caissa, Addepar, Advent, JD Edwards).
- Advance proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Strong working knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook. Experience with PowerBI or Tableau a plus.

- Ability to balance multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines.

Working Conditions
The physical working conditions of this position include an office environment where sitting and working on a computer for extended periods of time are common.
Hybrid Work Environments
We operate a hybrid work environment. Employees are required to be in the office Wednesdays and a minimum of two other days per week, for a total of three days in office and two days remote. During the first 30 days of employment, in-office work is expected to ensure effective onboarding, collaboration, and relationship building. This work arrangement is subject to change at the discretion of Waycrosse.
