Position Description

The Senior Aviation Mechanic will help maintain the company’s aircraft to remain in a continuous state of airworthiness. They will assist the Flight Department in day-to-day operations and ensure expectations are met efficiently and safely. They may perform additional duties as needed to support flight operations, including aircraft cleaning and passenger assistance.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform towing, ground handling, assist fueling, and cleaning of company aircraft.
  • Support aircraft departures and arrivals:
    • Assist flight crew in departure preparation
    • Conduct post-flight inspections and servicing as needed
    • Handle passenger baggage
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, including troubleshooting and repairing discrepancies
  • Serve as Crew Chief for assigned aircraft:
    • Ensure compliance with maintenance schedules and documentation
    • Manage aircraft maintenance publications, return-to-service procedures, service bulletins, and airworthiness directives
  • Perform servicing tasks such as loading navigation databases, downloading trend monitoring data, battery servicing, and general maintenance tasks
  • Performing exterior cleaning
  • Comply with company-managed OSHA and HAZCOM programs and procedures
  • Regularly communicate aircraft status with:
    • Chief Pilot (Savannah)
    • Chief of Maintenance (Chicago)
    • Assistant Chief of Maintenance (Chicago)
    • Director of Aviation (Chicago)
  • Assist with hangar and facility upkeep:
    • Maintain workspace cleanliness
    • Order and manage hangar supplies
  • Service and maintain ground support equipment:
    • Tugs and external power carts
  • Attend technical schools and seminars as required
  • Execute additional tasks as directed by the Chief Pilot (Savannah), Chief of Maintenance, Assistant Chief of Maintenance, or Director of Aviation (Chicago). 
     

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or higher in Aviation Maintenance Technology, Aeronautics, or a related technical field preferred.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certification required. FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in aircraft maintenance, with at least 3 years working on multi-engine jet aircraft.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Knowledge regarding aircraft materials and their properties
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to safety and quality
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Physical ability to perform tasks involving lifting, climbing, and operating equipment
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills
