Reporting To: VP - Head of Family Office
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and trustworthy Senior Accountant to take ownership of the accounting operations for a multi-asset family office. This is a unique opportunity to lead day-to-day accounting workflows across entities, while contributing to strategic financial planning and reporting efforts in a high-trust, dynamic environment.
Based in Bangalore, this role involves direct collaboration with family office leadership and coordination with tax advisors, wealth managers, legal professionals, and service providers. The role includes oversight of core accounting processes, management of a staff accountant, and support for FP&A deliverables such as cash flow tracking, expense forecasting, and portfolio reporting.
The ideal candidate will bring 8+ years of accounting experience, including 2–3 years supporting a US-based family office or UHNW environment, and will demonstrate strong technical skills, sound judgment, and professional discretion. This position is on-site in Bangalore and requires regular overlap with US business hours.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Ownership
- Maintain complete and accurate accounting records across multiple entities and asset types, including private equity investments, real estate, and personal finance structures.
- Track capital calls, distributions, funding schedules, valuation changes and intercompany transactions.
- Manage accounting for real estate and aviation assets, including rental income, maintenance and operating costs, depreciation schedules, loan servicing and vendor coordination.
- Oversee accounts payable/receivable workflows, including invoice verification, payment processing and receivables tracking.
- Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including reconciliation of bank accounts, credit cards, investments, and intercompany accounts.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation, including financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors, CPAs, and legal partners to support individual, trust, and entity-level tax filings
- Manage and review work completed by staff accountant.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Monitor and forecast recurring and one-time expenses such as insurance premiums, property costs, aviation operations, retainers, and personal expenditures.
- Assist family office leadership in standardizing workflows, reconciliation formats, and financial reporting templates.
- Support the family office leadership in delivering financial planning and analysis (FP&A) outputs, including budgeting inputs, expense tracking, and investment activity summaries.
- Prepare and present financial summaries (monthly/quarterly), highlighting trends, upcoming obligations and cash positioning.
Discretion & Judgment
- Handle sensitive personal and financial information with the utmost confidentiality and professionalism.
- Exercise sound judgement in resolving financial inquiries, documenting transactions, and representing the interests of the family office.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional accounting experience, including at least 3 years managing the accounting functions for a family office, private client, or UHNW individuals.
- Prior experience supporting a US-based family office or global accounting structures is strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; Chartered Accountant (“CA”) or Certified Public Accountant (“CPA”) is required.
- Strong working knowledge of investment accounting, real estate finance, and personal asset reporting.
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to create custom reporting tools, schedules and reconciliation templates.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to coordinate with global advisors and stakeholders.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in high-discretion environments.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently, prioritize shifting needs, and take ownership of responsibilities.
- Must be based in Bangalore, with the ability to work on-site and maintain regular overlap with US hours.
Preferred Experience
- Familiar with accounting and reporting systems such as Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, Blackline, or similar cloud-based ERP/reporting platforms.
- Direct exposure to accounting systems and tools commonly used in private wealth and family office environments.
- Experience supporting real estate, aviation, insurance, or private investment accounting workflows.
- Prior experience coordinating with external legal, tax, or estate planning advisors on personal and entity-level financial matters.
- Experience supporting or leading ERP system implementations or migrations.
- Experience overseeing or mentoring junior accounting staff or bookkeepers.
