Position Summary
AMBFO’s Finance team is looking for a resourceful and independent Risk Manager who will report to the Vice President. The Risk Manager will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our people, assets, and reputation across our diverse organization. This full-time position is responsible for overseeing and managing the comprehensive insurance and risk management programs across the Blank Family of Businesses (mentioned above) that support strategic objectives and ensure operational resilience. This role will collaborate closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure effective risk mitigation, insurance coverage, and compliance. This role will identify, assess, and mitigate risks across multiple business units, including financial, operational, reputational, compliance, and emerging risks such as cybersecurity and AI. The ideal candidate will be an over-communicator, ask great questions, always be willing to learn, and want to continuously improve/be challenged.
Role and Responsibilities
Insurance Program Management
- Lead the administration of all insurance programs across entities, ensuring appropriate coverage and alignment with organizational needs.
- Develop and execute annual renewal strategies in collaboration with leadership.
- Coordinate the collection and consolidation of financial and property data for insurance placements, including business interruption and property valuations.
- Analyze insurance proposals for accuracy and adequacy; provide strategic recommendations.
- Review bound policies for compliance with negotiated terms and conditions.
Broker & Policy Coordination
- Serve as the primary liaison with insurance brokers, managing communications and updates throughout the year.
- Lead negotiations on coverage terms, exclusions, endorsements, deductibles, and premiums.
- Communicate changes such as construction/renovation projects and unique coverage needs (e.g., Live Falcons at MBS, World Cup requirements).
- Obtain and manage Certificates of Insurance (COIs) for all entities and vendors.
Budgeting & Reporting
- Prepare and present insurance budgets to leadership and business units.
- Track event attendance for General Liability renewals.
- Complete various insurance-related questionnaires (e.g., NFL, Pollution) and support SAFETY Act designation efforts.
Claims Management
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to implement standardized reporting protocols across the organization and recommend adjustments to established protocols as needed.
- Support Legal in claim/incident reporting, investigation process, and litigation management.
- Collaborate with relevant teams to ensure accurate and complete claim documentation for reimbursement.
- Coordinate insurer site visits and follow up on findings to ensure resolution.
- Review Workers’ Compensation (WC) claims and coordinate reporting with the Benefits Manager.
Audit & Compliance
- Manage annual audits for Workers’ Compensation and General Liability.
- Oversee monthly reporting for TULIP policies and WC for MBS/AMBSE.
- Review contracts for indemnification and insurance requirements; advise on coverage implications and policy endorsements.
Special Projects & Risk Mitigation
- Support the implementation and ongoing management of a Captive Insurance program, including execution of daily operational activities and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
- Administer Use agreements for ranch visitors, including individuals, entities, and subcontractors.
- Process premium invoices and allocate expenses across entities.
- Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement corporate risk policies and controls, balancing risk mitigation with operational efficiency (e.g., driver eligibility, travel, vendor management).
- Design and deliver training programs on risk and insurance management, including vendor oversight, claim reporting, and data collection for renewals and audits.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management or a related field is required; advanced degrees (e.g., MBA) and professional certifications such as CRM, FRM, RIMS-CRMP, or CRISC are highly preferred.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in enterprise risk management, ideally within multi-industry or family-owned business environments.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a small, collaborative team setting with moderate supervision.
- High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
- Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking capabilities, with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work extended hours when necessary.
