The Beedie Family Office has been established to meet the investment, estate planning, philanthropic, lifestyle and tax service needs of the Beedie family. The Beedie Family Office maintains close connections with the core operating group; however, is guided by a distinct set of family goals and visions that extend past real estate operations, largely with a view of diversifying core asset holdings and income streams in order to meet its specific objectives.


Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Junior Accountant to join our Family Office team. This role involves managing daily accounting tasks across multiple entities, in varying businesses and industries. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a collaborative environment and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where adaptability and problem solving are key. 

Full-Cycle Accounting & Bookkeeping

    • Process and maintain the full cycle of accounts payable and accounts receivable for various entities
    • Manage AP contracts and subscriptions and coordinate renewals
    • Communicate with vendors to resolve discrepancies and assist onboard new vendors
    • Perform full cycle bookkeeping functions for other Beedie-owned businesses
    • Maintain accurate record keeping by performing bank, credit card, intercompany, and other account reconciliations and resolving identified discrepancies as necessary

Banking & Treasury

    • Assist with treasury functions including online banking, bank deposits, and cash balance monitoring
    • Assist the corporate cash flow budgeting and forecasting process

Compliance & Reporting

    • Prepare and file GST/PST returns
    • Assist with month-end closing and preparation of financial statements and management reports
    • Prepare tax returns including T1, T2, T3, charity, and other tax returns as needed

Administrative & Team Support

    • Liaise with family members and internal teams to support various initiatives
    • Provide general office administration and assist with special projects as needed

Desired Skills and Experience

    • Minimum 1–2 years of relevant accounting experience
    • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Netsuite, Yardi)
    • Proficient in MS Office package, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
    • Familiarity with Canadian tax regulations and experience with tax software (e.g., Taxprep, iFirm) is an asset
    • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
    • Organized self starter, able to adapt and problem solve with minimal supervision
    • Strong sense of ownership and accountability with a humble work ethic
    • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently or collaboratively within a team environment
    • Self-Aware and open to learning new things

$50,000 - $60,000 a year

The annual base pay range for this position will be based on the desired experience level for this role. Additionally, Beedie recognizes exceptional individual and team performance through our pay-for-performance bonus program.
