Job Description

The Family Office Management group at Bessemer Trust provides accounting and financial reporting services to ultra-high-net-worth families and their related entities, and is currently seeking a Senior Accounting Manager for a position in Woodbridge, New Jersey office.

The primary focus of this position will be to oversee the accounting and financial reporting functions for a select group of ultra-high-net-worth families and their related entities, including partnerships, trusts, foundations, corporations, and personal accounts. This individual will lead a team in managing complex accounting needs, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, and providing proactive guidance to both clients and internal teams. The role requires technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client service.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee accounting and financial reporting, including preparation and analysis of unaudited financial statements across multiple entities, with consolidated statements prepared as needed.
  • Assist with the preparation and annual filing of vendor 1099s
  • Oversee and review reconciliations of investment activity, alternative investments, and related reporting tied to K-1s, 1099s, and other tax documentation.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Collaborate with other internal teams (Tax, Bill Pay, Client Advisory, etc.) to ensure seamless client service and reporting accuracy.
  • Work directly with clients, their advisors, and other stakeholders to address inquiries, provide financial insight, and deliver custom reporting solutions.
  • Manage workflows to ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Lead strategic initiatives, including process improvement, technology adoption, and scaling operations to support growth.
  • Assist with onboarding new clients by setting up accounting processes, organizing financial records, and establishing reporting frameworks tailored to client needs.
  • Support year-end tax planning, compliance, and audit processes in coordination with the clients and their advisors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; 12+ years of experience preparing and analyzing financial information.
  • CPA designation required.
  • Strong knowledge of investment accounting, consolidation accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Progressive experience with increasing responsibility, including direct staff management and oversight.
  • Experience with individual and small business accounting a plus.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with a client service orientation and professional demeanor.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple client assignments, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to exercise tact, discretion, and sound judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information.
