Your Responsibilities:

Matter is seeking a Managing Director of People (this is Matter’s equivalent to a Vice President of People) who will head and lead the People function as a proactive and strategic business partner. The Managing Director of People will play a key role in the early stages of business initiatives, leading the development and execution of people strategies aligned to business strategies. The Managing Director of People will be a critical partner in support of Matter’s organic growth and acquisition plans and be involved in all aspects of building the company strategy and execution.

  • Be a true strategic business partner to the senior leadership team, assessing organizational performance against industry best practices, the annual operating plan, and long-term people strategy. Go beyond just shaping the organization, but strategically leading the function, while constantly evaluating how the organization continues to evolve as a high performing team.
  • Lead with vision by engaging the Matter team through the alignment of people strategies with Matter’s business objectives and growth initiatives, including M&A integration.
  • Earn trust and credibility across the Matter organization, with Forsyth Partners, and among company officers as a solutions-driven leader who tackles business and people challenges with clarity and confidence.
  • Equip decision-makers by building high performing teams through talent acquisition and retention strategies, succession planning, and leadership development programs.
  • Champion compliance and fairness by overseeing employment law adherence, managing complex team member relations issues and minimizing risk.
  • Fostering a thriving culture by promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB), and leading engagement and recognition programs.

Your Experience:

  • Proven experience as a strategic people leader in multi-site or multi-state environments.
  • Demonstrated success in leading people aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and integrations.
  • Strong legal knowledge of employment law, SOC classifications, and EEOC processes.
  • Experience building and leading high-performing people teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s or JD preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive people leadership experience.
  • Proven experience as an energetic, forward-thinking and creative people leader with high ethical standards and a strong desire to work in a dynamic environment with a high-performing team.
