Overview and Opportunity
 
We are supporting a growing Family Office in Central London in their search for an in-house Legal Counsel.
 
As Legal Counsel, you will provide pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice across a wide range of matters, including employment, commercial contracts, corporate governance, compliance, and operational issues.
 
You will act as a trusted advisor to the business, working cross-functionally with teams such as HR, operations, and leadership, ensuring legal risks are effectively managed while enabling business growth.
 
Role Responsibilities 

  • Provide clear, practical legal advice across employment, commercial, corporate, governance, and regulatory matters
  • Partner closely with HR on employee relations issues, including disciplinary, grievance, performance, redundancy, and restructuring processes
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of legal documents, including:
  • Employment contracts and policies
  • Commercial agreements and supplier contracts
  • NDAs and business documentation
  • Tenancy and property-related agreements
  • Advise on legal and commercial risk in day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives
  • Support corporate governance processes, internal approvals, and policy development
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments and translate them into actionable business guidance
  • Assist with immigration-related matters (e.g. right to work, visas) in coordination with external advisors
  • Support disputes, claims, and investigations, helping to protect business interests
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and build strong stakeholder relationships
  • Manage and coordinate external counsel, ensuring cost-effective legal support
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of legal templates, processes, and training

Candidate Requirements 

  • Qualified lawyer (England & Wales or equivalent jurisdiction)
  • Strong experience in UK employment law and employee relations
  • Solid background in commercial contracts and general in-house legal support
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advisory skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • High level of professionalism, attention to detail, and sound judgement
  • Experience in property management and/or real estate would be highly desirable
  • Cantonese language skills are advantageous, but not essential
