Role Description:
The Investment Associate will be a key member of the firm’s Investment Research Team, reporting directly to the Deputy CIO. The immediate need is for this individual to assist in sourcing and conducting due diligence in long only (public) investment managers. This position will play a critical role in implementing the firm's public market investment process, with responsibilities spanning investment manager due diligence, portfolio construction, asset allocation, macroeconomic analysis, and risk management. The associate will also be expected to contribute to the firm’s intellectual capital by producing high-quality macroeconomic white papers and regularly delivering market and economic updates to both internal stakeholders and clients. Over time, this individual will have the opportunity to work across asset classes including alternative investments (hedge funds, private market vehicles, etc.).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Support sourcing, evaluation, and monitoring of public market investment solutions (active and passive strategies) across asset classes.
- Conduct detailed quantitative and qualitative due diligence on investment managers and strategies.
- Assist in strategic and tactical asset allocation decisions, including portfolio construction and optimization efforts.
- Develop and maintain tools and systems to monitor portfolio risk, exposure, and performance.
- Collaborate with CIO on the implementation and monitoring of the Global Unconstrained Portfolio (GUP).
- Write and publish insightful macroeconomic white papers to inform internal investment views and educate clients.
- Provide regular commentary and updates on global macroeconomic trends and current market conditions through reports, presentations, and meetings.
- Present market insights and investment strategy updates to internal investment committees and client-facing teams.
- Recommend investment solutions aligned with the firm’s overall market outlook and investment philosophy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree (MBA or related field) strongly preferred.
- CFA designation or active progress toward certification.
- Experience in investment research, portfolio management, or macroeconomic analysis.
- Deep understanding of macroeconomics, global markets, portfolio construction, and risk management frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to write clear, compelling investment commentary and macroeconomic white papers.
- Excellent verbal communication skills, with experience presenting complex information to a range of audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required; experience with FactSet, Bloomberg, Visual Basic, or SQL is a significant plus.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
