Group Financial Controller - Family Office - Investments

Allura Partners are delighted to be exclusively supporting a private investment group in their search for a Financial Controller. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing all aspects of statutory reporting, management accounting, tax compliance and cross-border investment support.  

Please note, this role requires 5 days working in the CBD office.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare statutory financial statements and manage the annual audit process across multiple entities, including trusts.
  • Deliver accurate and timely monthly management reports and consolidated group accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and corporate regulations.
Tax & Regulatory
  • Oversee tax compliance processes including BAS, FBT and other obligations, supported by an external mid-tier tax advisory firm.
  • Provide financial inputs and reconciliations required for complex tax returns and advisory work.
Operational Finance
  • Manage inter-company accounting, interest allocation and cost allocations across various businesses.
  • Oversee group insurance renewals and ongoing policy management.
  • Coordinate payments and banking across a broad portfolio of entities.
Investment & Structuring Support
  • Support the commercial and legal teams with structuring of international investments and cross-border transactions.
  • Maintain financial oversight of global investment portfolios, including private equity, credit and real estate.
Team Leadership & Systems
  • Supervise a small off-shore accounting support team (accounts payable and general finance support).
  • Maintain and develop internal controls, finance processes and documentation.
  • Use and maintain the group’s cloud-based accounting system (Xero).
Qualifications & Experience
  • CA/CPA qualified with at least 6+ years’ experience in financial and management accounting.
  • Strong background in statutory reporting, tax compliance and financial operations.
  • Experience working with trusts, inter-company structures and cross-border investments preferred.
  • Comfortable working in a private investment firm or similar environment managing multiple entities.
  • Experience with Xero and Excel essential.
