Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Senior Accountant to support both family office financial activities and the corporate accounting function. This position plays a key role in managing the financial records and day-to-day accounting operations of a small, private family office. This position handles bookkeeping for multiple entities, including personal accounts, trusts, and multiple real estate properties. The ideal candidate is meticulous, trustworthy, and comfortable working in a discreet, family-centered environment where flexibility and accuracy are essential. This role will serve as a responsive, in-house resource for family-related financial needs while also contributing to the broader accounting team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage bill pay, reimbursements, and expense tracking for family real estate, investments, and personal or philanthropic activities.
- Maintain accurate accounting records for multiple real estate properties and family entities (personal, investment, and trust accounts).
- Record and reconcile bank activity on multiple personal and real estate accounts.
- Process owner distributions on multiple personal and real estate accounts.
- Prepare financial summaries, cash flow reports, and account reconciliations.
- Coordinate with external accountants, attorneys, and investment advisors on reporting and tax filings.
- Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and monitor actual results versus projections.
- Organize and maintain legal and accounting files, statements, and supporting documentation.
- Manage cash transfers and ensure adequate liquidity across accounts.
- Ensure confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive financial information.
- Assist with corporate AP and AR processes.
- Assist with corporate account reconciliations.
- Support corporate month end and year-end close activities.
- Assist with corporate expense coding and general ledger maintenance.
- Provide broad support to the corporate accounting team as needed.
- Work on various other tasks as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, or related field preferred.
- 3-7 years of accounting experience; prior experience in a family office preferred.
- Experience with real estate accounting, including property level reporting preferred.
- Experience working with multiple entities preferred.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks (Desktop or Online), Microsoft Excel, and general financial reporting tools.
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles and multi-entity bookkeeping.
- Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Discretion, integrity, and the ability to oversee confidential information with care.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize effectively.
- Service-minded attitude and willingness to take on a variety of administrative or financial tasks as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods, use a computer regularly, and perform repetitive motions using keyboard/mouse.
- Occasional lifting up to 15 lbs.
- Repetitive hand and wrist movements for frequent use of computer keyboard and mouse.
