While this position is associated with Maropost, it specifically focuses on Family Office operations and is not directly integrated with the core Maropost finance team. This ensures a dedicated focus on the unique needs of the Family Office though it may include overlap with Maropost on certain matters and needs.

This role will be based in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

About the position:

We are seeking a highly skilled GM/CFO to oversee the end-to-end operations for our Family Office. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with high-net-worth individuals (HNWI) and managing the unique financial complexities of their  global investments, assets, and business interests in a fast-paced environement. 

What You’ll be Responsible for:

  •  Act as a trusted advisor for a high-net-worth individual, providing financial insights and guidance to support informed decision-  making regarding global investments, including private equity, hedge funds, venture capital, and real estate.
  •  Manage accounting for a diverse portfolio of investment activities, including tracking performance, cash flows, and valuations.
  •  Assist in the review and administration of investment contracts, subscription agreements, and legal documentation.
  •  Provide financial oversight and support for real estate transactions, including purchase agreements, financing, and ongoing management.
  •  Support the administration of family office operations, including estate planning, trust accounting, and philanthropic activities.
  •  Provide complex financial analysis, manage special requests, and lead ad hoc financial projects as needed.
  •  Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
  •  Maintain and update documentation for all investment and real estate holdings.
  •  Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  •  Manage compliance with tax regulations and coordinate with external advisors for tax filings.
  •  Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of the Family Office, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting.
  •  Manage the accounts payable process, including invoice review, approvals, and payment schedules.

What You’ll need to bring to Maropost:

  • CPA, CA, or equivalent professional accounting designation is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting and financial management, with at least 3 years working in a Family Office or directly with high-net-worth individuals.
  • Strong knowledge of investment accounting, including private equity, venture capital, and real estate.
  • Familiarity with family office administration, including investment contracts, estate planning, and tax compliance.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work discreetly and   professionally with high-net-worth clients.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience with specialized family office or investment management platforms is an asset.
