What You’ll Do 

Are you a tax professional looking to build your expertise while working on sophisticated, high-impact client engagements? At Cohen & Co, we believe in putting great people first — creating an environment where collaboration, growth, and technical development go hand in hand. 

As an Experienced Staff on our Family Office Tax team, you will support the preparation of tax returns for high-net-worth individuals and families, including complex investment structures and multi-entity filings. You’ll gain exposure to sophisticated tax work early in your career and work alongside experienced professionals who are committed to mentorship and development. This is an opportunity to move beyond basic compliance work and build a strong technical foundation in high-net-worth taxation.  

 

Tax Preparation & Compliance 

  • Prepare complex individual income tax returns (Form 1040) for high-net-worth individuals. 
  • Assist with preparation of partnership (Form 1065) and trust (Form 1041) returns. 
  • Work on returns with investment-heavy structures, including private equity, hedge funds, and alternative investments (with guidance from senior team members). 
  • Assist with foreign reporting and international compliance as applicable (e.g., FBAR, FATCA). 
  • Deliver accurate, timely work while maintaining strong attention to detail and firm standards. 

 

Technical Development 

  • Build foundational expertise in high net worth and family office tax matters  
  • Learn to navigate complex tax scenarios and multi-entity structures 
  • Assist in researching and resolving technical tax questions alongside senior team members. 

 

Client & Team Collaboration 

  • Work closely with seniors and managers on client engagements. 
  • Support team workflow by organizing data, preparing deliverables, and meeting deadlines. 
  • Contribute to a collaborative environment focused on learning, development, and high-quality service delivery. 
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure alignment and execution 

Who You Are 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field. 
  • 1–4+ years of tax experience, preferably in public accounting or family office environments. 
  • Exposure partnerships, trusts, and investment-related tax work. 
  • Ability to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship. 

 

Preferred Background 

  • CPA or requirements to pursue CPA  
  • Experience working with high-net-worth clients and complex investment structures  
  • Exposure alternative investments and foreign reporting. 
  • Background in public accounting, HNW tax, or family office environments

Estimated Base Range: $60,000 - 80,000*

*Base compensation offered to candidates are determined based on factors such as candidate's relevant skillset, experience, licensure, and certifications, as well as job responsibilities, geography, market considerations, and organizational needs.
