Status: 1099 Independent Contractor, Part-Time
Compensation: Project Based, According to Experience
About The Collier Companies & Collier Family Office
The Collier Companies (TCC) is a privately held real estate investment and management firm headquartered in Gainesville, FL, with a primary focus on multifamily communities. The Collier Family Office supports the financial, tax, legal, and legacy planning needs of the Collier family, The Collier Companies and related entities, overseeing investments, reporting, governance, and risk management.
We are seeking an Experienced Accountant to Serve as an Independent Auditor to provide objective, third-party review and audit of our accounting and operational internal controls, systems and processes, to report back any and all material and significant issues and recommendations.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 10+ years of audit experience, preferably with:
- A public accounting firm (Big 4 or regional), and/or
- Internal audit in a real estate, financial services, or investment environment.
- Strong understanding of internal controls, and risk-based audit methodology.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as a consultant (1099/contractor model).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to clearly and diplomatically present findings to senior stakeholders.
- High degree of professional integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.
Engagement Details
- Type: Independent contractor (1099) – not an employee role.
- Hours: Part-time; hours will vary based on project scope (estimated 5–20 hours per week on average).
- Location: Gainesville, FL. Hybrid engagement with some on-site presence expected for initial assessments, key meetings, and select procedures; remote work for documentation and reporting is possible.

- Detail-oriented yet pragmatic, focusing on material risks and practical solutions.
- Professional, independent, and comfortable interacting with C-suite executives and family principals.
- Able to self-manage workload and deadlines with minimal oversight.
