A wealth management organization based in the Bay Area is seeking a Director of Wealth Advisory-Philanthropy on a direct hire basis.

The Director of Wealth Advisory-Philanthropy serves as the primary advisor to high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth families, providing strategic guidance on all aspects of philanthropic planning and legacy impact. This role is exclusively advisory, no fundraising or solicitation, and is responsible for designing sophisticated, purpose-driven charitable strategies that integrate with clients’ overall estate, trust, and wealth plans.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of philanthropic strategies aligned with each family’s mission, values, and multi-generational objectives.
  • Advise on and oversee the establishment and governance of donor-advised funds, private foundations, charitable trusts, and other philanthropic structures.
  • Collaborate closely with estate attorneys, CPAs, and wealth strategists to ensure tax-efficient, integrated planning.
  • Conduct in-depth due diligence on nonprofit organizations, impact initiatives, and mission-aligned investment opportunities.
  • Facilitate strategic family conversations, including next-generation education, legacy stewardship, and long-term governance planning.
  • Prepare and present impact reports, strategic roadmaps, and board-level communications for family entities or charitable vehicles.
  • Stay ahead of evolving philanthropic trends, tax regulations, and innovative giving strategies to proactively advise clients.
  • Serve as a thought leader and trusted relationship manager, maintaining the highest discretion and level of client service.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in philanthropic advisory, private wealth management, trusts & estates, or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated success advising high-net worth individuals or family offices.
  • Deep expertise in charitable structuring, legacy planning, and tax-efficient giving strategies.
  • Exceptional presence, emotional intelligence, and client advisory skills.
  • Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., JD, CAP, CFP, TEP, CPA) strongly preferred.
