Position Description

Captains are responsible for the safe conduct of flights to which they are assigned. Captains must ensure compliance with all Federal, state, local and foreign regulations, as well as the policies and procedures specified in the company operations manual. When assigned to the flight, the Captain has the final authority in the operation of the aircraft. The more senior pilot will have overall charge of the airplane, unless otherwise assigned by the Chief Pilot. Pilots execute scheduled flights and are on-call for shorter notice trips. Captains are the Company’s most visible representative to the passengers and must act in a professional manner ensuring an efficient and safe operation.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Comply with schedules, and other directives governing the aircraft’s operation.
  • Perform or supervise preflight inspections.
  • Review weather conditions, NOTAMs, and alternate airports.
  • Prepare flight plans and ensure that all flight planning requirements are met.
  • Ensure the aircraft is ready for flight, including safety provisions and passenger comfort.
  • Review and calculate the aircraft weight and balance, fuel, oil, and oxygen requirements and performance charts.
  • Supervise in any duties necessary for the smooth, safe and efficient operation of the aircraft.
  • Make critical decisions regarding the start, delay, or deviation of flights due to operating conditions.
  • Ensure that a flight will not commence if a flight crew member is incapacitated.
  • Notify authorities of any accidents involving the aircraft.
  • Maintain the security of the aircraft during operations.
  • Provide excellent customer service to passengers by meeting and greeting passengers, loading baggage onto the aircraft and assisting passengers upon arrival at the destination.
  • Debrief passengers about safety once aboard.
  • Complete post-flight duties, including recording flight times, journey logs, and any company-specific post-flight duties. 
  • Submit reports to authorities in cases of unlawful interference. 
  • Report hazardous weather conditions to air traffic services. 
  • Promptly notify air traffic control of suspected communicable diseases on board. 
  • Mentor crew members and share operational knowledge. 
     

 

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Education & Certifications:                
    • Must hold, or be able to obtain, an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate. 
    • Commercial Certificate with airplane Instrument and Multi-Engine Ratings.
    • Valid 1st Class Medical Certificate. 
    • 500hrs Multi-engine time with 200hrs turbine time. 
    • A four-year degree in aviation or a related field is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience: 
    • 2 to 10 years of experience as a Captain or comparable role. 
    • Minimum of 1,500hrs flight time. 
    • Experience in corporate aviation preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft systems, flight procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Ability to safely operate an aircraft and manage in-flight operations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to respond swiftly to on-call flight assignments.
  • Team collaboration and leadership skills, with the ability to give and follow directions.
