Our Client
Our client is a well-established, cross-border investment management firm based in downtown Toronto. The firm operates a sophisticated hedge fund platform alongside a closely integrated family office and is known for its high standards, lean structure, and direct access to senior leadership. The position is fully in-office (5 days per week) in the financial core of Toronto.
Responsibilities
- Oversee financial administration across the management company, fund general partner entities, and the CIO’s family office
- Work closely with senior leadership, with direct visibility to the CEO, CIO, and Principal team; report directly to the CFO
Family Office
- Support management of the CIO’s personal investments, including account setup, statements, and market value tracking
- Maintain books and records for CEO/CIO holding companies and related investments
- Maintain books and records for the CIO’s personal foundation, including donations, receipts, and event support
- Assist with special projects such as estate planning, tax planning, and legal structuring
Management Company
- Maintain rolling budgets and forecasts in collaboration with the CEO and CFO
- Maintain full books and records, including journal entries and monthly financial statements
- Calculate quarterly management fees and monthly expense reimbursements
- Manage banking relationships and company expense payments
- Coordinate annual audits and company tax filings
- Track and allocate capital activity to and from principals
- Provide technical support related to payroll and facilities management
Fund General Partners
- Track performance allocations for each fund
- Maintain books and records for GP entities and related member entities
- Assist with performance allocation calculations and reinvestment
Tax & Compliance
- Support regulatory filings at the management company level
- Prepare EHT and HST filings and coordinate payments
- Support annual foreign holdings reporting
- Execute or oversee administrative tasks supporting the above functions as needed
Requirements
- Undergraduate university degree or higher
- CPA designation (Canadian or international equivalent considered)
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in an investment management, family office, or similar environment
- Strong Excel skills and experience with basic accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks)
- Process-oriented with exceptional attention to detail
